Isansys secures SBRI Healthcare funding

Published on: 15/06/2015

Wireless patient monitoring company Isansys, based at 8C Park Square, which provides the NHS and health organisations with new generation wireless patient monitoring systems and associated predictive analytics, has been awarded a substantial Phase 2 contract by The Small Business Research Initiative for Healthcare (“SBRI Healthcare”), which is an NHS England initiative. The contract is worth £1million and has enabled Isansys to increase the functionality and extend the intended use of its innovative Patient Status Engine (PSE).

The SBRI programme, which is an NHS England initiative, championed by the Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), backs small and medium-sized companies with funding to accelerate the development of new technologies for unmet healthcare needs. The competitions are launched on a biannual basis and have a Dragons’ Den style format where applicants must convince a review panel that they have the right product, the right approach, and the right team.

The company is flourishing thanks to demand by healthcare providers for innovative, market-ready solutions that can enable improved patient monitoring and alerting both in hospitals and at home, thus reducing costs for the NHS.

“Every patient monitored” is the ethos behind Isansys’ healthcare contract for improving patient safety. Combining a bedside display and data entry screen with the Lifetouch and other wireless wearable sensors, the Patient Status Engine platform reimagines the way patients are monitored in, and out of hospital.

Keith Errey, chief executive officer, Isansys Lifecare Ltd said: “We’re thrilled to have been awarded this contract by SBRI Healthcare. As a result of the funding we have upgraded and extended the PSE to provide greater mobility and enable community based early interventions that will allow critical care pathways to be extended beyond the hospital walls.

“This SBRI healthcare development contract has made a huge difference as we are now able to continue our work with in-hospital patients and those recovering at home, and support clinicians and nurses who are developing the new pathways and workflows now enabled by the PSE.

“This development contract recognises the importance of what Isansys is doing and illustrates the benefits that our wireless real-time patient monitoring and analysis platform is now bringing to patients, clinicians and nursing staff.”
