Travel update - roadworks & rail disruptions

Published on: 11/07/2018

As many of you are aware, there is currently significant disruption to rail services between Oxford and Didcot Parkway due to upgrades to Oxford station, with rail replacement buses operating between these stations between 6th and 23rd July and over the weekend of the 28th and 29th July.  More information can be found here: https://cdn.networkrail.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Didcot-parkway-Oxford-and-Banbury-summer-works.pdf

There has been quite a bit of disruption recently as the rail replacement buses interfered with our shuttle bus operations and required us to change our usual bus stop from the station forecourt. Please keep an eye out for signs to point you in the right direction.

The rail replacement buses also affected traffic in the area so please allow more time for your journeys.

The latest update on the Sutton Courtenay road closure (Harwell Rd) is that, following pressure from local councillors, residents and MEPC, the contractors and OCC have agreed to a partial closure of the road up until the 30th July with a full closure thereafter until the works are complete, hopefully early November.  The majority of the works should now take place during the Summer Holidays, keeping disruption to a minimum. Inevitably, this will affect traffic in the area and we are working closely with the Council to monitor the situation and seek ways to reduce the disruption.

The Milton Road lamp column works have also been causing delays to traffic and have been affecting our buses. We are endeavouring to keep to the timetable as closely as we can.  These works are progressing well and should be finished ahead of schedule. The new lamp columns (and the removal of some of the old ones) will considerably improve the cycle route along there.
