Apprentice News desk Assistant

Company: Alamy HQ

Type of contract: Fixed term 12-18 month apprenticeship

Hours: 40 hours per week (including the time you're at College)

Alternation weeks of day shifts (8am to 4.45pm) and night shifts (1.15pm to 10pm) Monday - Friday

1 weekend shift every 4 weeks (8am-2:30pm or 2:30pm-9pm Saturdays and Sundays)

Package: £298 per week plus great benefits

This role is based in our live News team, which is a fast paced, growing provider of Live News images to the International media. Our images are supplied by photographers & agencies from around the world and our clients are the well-established newspapers & corporations. How exciting would it be to see the images you’ve submitted used as part of a big news story!

Here’s some more detail about this exciting opportunity, where you’ll get ‘on the job’ training and learn how to; 

  • Source images from photographers and agencies
  • Correctly caption images and then send them to our newspaper clients
  • Brief photographers for events
  • Run a news diary

 

You’ll complete a course which will lead to an apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2.

 

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Enjoys being busy and isn’t scared to ask questions 
  • Thrives on learning new things 
  • Has a positive ‘can do’ attitude, especially when faced with a challenge 
  • Is happy working without constant supervision
  • Has a love of news stories and photo journalism
  • Has excellent written English language skills 
  • Has a great telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively
