Mi-Link
autonomous bus
The UK's first fully electric autonomous bus service.
Our latest service 003 is operating around Didcot in Oxfordshire. Following the success of Phase 1 in March 2023, and Phase 2 in June-July 2023, from Thursday 7 September services will link Milton Park with Didcot Parkway railway station. A larger single-decker autonomous bus will operate on this new service.
This bus is also 100% electric and emissions free. The service is available for anyone to use and it’s free to use. It is fully accessible to users of wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
The 003 service will operate between Didcot Parkway and Milton Park, including several stops on Park Drive.
The service is available to anyone and it’s free to use.
It is fully accessible to wheelchair users, pushchairs and other mobility aids.

Mi-Link
autonomous bus
On the bus, all steering, acceleration and braking is done automatically, and the vehicle will respond to other traffic, road conditions and external events.
The Mi-Link vehicle is a standard electric bus modified by Fusion Processing to operate autonomously with the modifications fully tested and approved for use on UK roads. The service is operated by First Bus, a licensed operator of bus and coach services. There is always a ‘safety driver’ who is a fully qualified bus driver on board to take back control should the need arise.
Hop on and off the Mi-Link bus

Check the timetable and wait for the bus at one of the specified bus stops.

Each stop will have a QR code to scan for live, real-time updates on your journey.

Take a seat, fasten your seat belt. When you want to get off the bus, just press the bell and it will automatically stop at the next stop.

The service will run from Monday to Saturday 7am to 6.30pm and will operate every 15 minutes.

Be part of the future
This is the first time autonomous vehicles have been used to deliver a public service! Mi-Link is exploring the potential to apply this technology to real world situations.
Whilst on board, you may be asked to complete a short online survey or you may be approached by one of the University of the West of England project team for your views.
