2040 Vision

Our 2040 Vision sets out plans for Milton Park to become a pioneering research and innovation district, where 20,000 people can collaborate and companies can sustainably grow.

The 2040 Vision will deliver:

  • Flexible laboratory and office space to support 10,000 new jobs
  • New amenities for employees and the local community
  • A 24/7 sustainable hub of innovation.

Placed within the ‘Golden Triangle’ of Oxford, Cambridge and London, companies at Milton Park have an instrumental role in generating regional and national economic prosperity, building on the area’s established reputation for science and research.

Yet there is a pressing nationwide need for more flexible office, laboratory and R&D space, of various sizes, providing solid foundations for innovative companies to flourish.

Developed in conjunction with a wide cross section of people, from company leaders to residents of surrounding villages, our 2040 Vision delivers a framework which will truly unlock the potential of Oxfordshire’s innovation cluster.

What happens next?

In the short term, infrastructure and connectivity work streams are being created and some already implemented such as the new cycle and footpath and bridge connecting to Abingdon and Oxford and the pedestrian crossings to improve the streetscape for everyone.

Crucial to making the 2040 Vision a reality, the Milton Park team is currently working with the Vale of White Horse District Council to refresh the existing Milton Park Local Development Order (LDO), which will position the Park as one of the most supportive and flexible locations for companies to establish and grow, while also ensuring future development can provide a positive response to the challenges posed by climate change.
