2024 Travel Survey Update

Published on 12 December 2024

Back to results
Thank you to all those that took part in the 2024 Travel Survey. There was a great response from our occupiers with Annalisa Salvatore from Evotec and Alastair Kay from Berks & Bucks FA, who were both picked at random winning £200 John Lewis vouchers.

Other winners who were picked at random each winning £50 NoQ voucher were: Peter Marsh from Achilles, Jody Barbeau from Exscientia, Chris Kingett from SLB, a winner from Ensilica, Gary Webb from CCF, Sarah Wilson from Ansys, Rebecca Foster from Vertex, Richard Thwaites from Tokamak Energy. There were multiple winners from Evotec (all picked at random) as they were the company with the most entries. The winners from Evotec were: Dawn Painting, Lauren Rickerby, Romilly Hryczanek and Severine Jones. Some of the winners of the NOQ voucher have very kindly treated their colleagues to lunch!

The annual travel survey covers the same dates each year, so we can compare years. This year the timing of the survey coincided with unprecedented rainfall in September/ October which impacted on people’s travel modes, with many more than usual choosing to work from home.

We have listened to people’s feedback in the survey and are continuing our work to further improve bus services and to put pressure on the local authority to improve the cycle network in the area. Several respondents commented on the bus services:

  • “There has been a good improvement in the quality of buses used over recent months, with many more double deckers operating”
  • “These are much newer and better appointed than the single deckers that are being phased out now”
  • “They are so handy to the area, and pretty reliable now and such a good deal for Milton Park companies”
  • “It is great, regular and convenient”
  • “Very good, so many buses at the times I need them”

Several people provided positive feedback on Milton Park £20 bus pass:

“The bus pass for Milton Park is FANTASTIC!”

We acknowledge that there has been a lot of demand for expanding the bus pass zone and we are constantly reviewing our sustainable travel options with the primary objective of reducing single occupancy vehicle use. We know people would love to see the £20 bus pass zone expanded, or additional discounts on bus fares from other areas, but we are mindful of the commercial needs of the local bus operators.

We recognise that there is a continuous requirement to further improve punctuality of buses and we are working with local stakeholders to achieve these improvements.

Thank you once again to all those who completed the survey.
