BioTuesday- What's New With Biomarkers

Published on: 23/04/2019

'What’s New with Biomarkers - Are they close to revolutionising patient treatment?'

Our May BioTuesday event, which is kindly hosted and sponsored by Ipsen Bioinnovation, will share insight into the current state of play with biomarkers, including how they are currently being used, and how close their use is to providing personalised treatments.

Understanding the relationship between measurable biological processes and clinical outcomes is vital to expanding our arsenal of treatments for all diseases, and for deepening our understanding of normal, healthy physiology.

By indicating either normal or diseased processes in the body, biomarkers are an essential tool in the early diagnosis of a wide range of diseases, such as Parkinson’s and rheumatoid arthritis, and in the identification of candidates for certain treatments such as immunosuppressive therapies.

Our line-up of expert speakers will share their knowledge on current uses, challenges, future developments and applications of biomarker, including:

  • What are the most successfully applied biomarkers?
  • What are the current technical limitations of using biomarkers?
  • The role that biomarkers play in regulatory decision making
  • How are companies developing biomarker strategies to de-risk and accelerate pre-clinical and clinical development?
  • What are the current barriers to clinical adoption of biomarkers?

Keynote Presentations:

Daniel Stevens, Global Development Lead at Ipsen Bioinnovation

David Browning, CEO at Oxford Cancer Biomarkers: “Expediting biomarker adoption; barriers and opportunities”

Jérôme Wojcik, Sr. VP, Translational Informatics & Biometrics Europe, Precision for Medicine: "How to Turn Biomarker Datasets into Actionable Insights”
