2040 Vision survey findings

Published on: 27/09/2018

Thank you for taking part in the Milton Park 2040 Vision Survey.

We had nearly 1200 participants take part and the responses have been brilliant. They've given the team some good ideas and perceptions for the continuation of the 2040 Vision project. There were also some potential quick wins identified for across the Park.

Work is still happening on creating a shared vision and future master plan for Milton Park but in the meantime we wanted to give you an insight into what you told us in the survey. All of the responses have been really helpful.

  • The majority of people who responded were Milton Park employees or Business Leaders, there were also a good number of responses from local residents and other stakeholders
  • 90% of people employed at Milton Park said it was a good place to work
  • Three key themes emerged:
    • Science & Innovation: 80% of employees cited Milton Park as a science & research hub and most companies have academic links with universities. This reinforces the role that Milton Park has to play in the continued economic growth of the Science Vale area, Oxfordshire as a whole and ultimately UK plc.
    • Mobility & Connectivity: this was a really important topic for most of you. The A34 was a key theme and there was a strong desire for us to continue to use our influence with local authorities on improvements to links in and out of Milton Park. The biggest suggestion was a Milton Park train station
    • Environment & Amenities: everyone values the green spaces around their buildings and across Milton Park, they are regularly used by lots of people including at weekends. There was a common suggestion of Milton Park becoming a more 24/7 place which includes a wider range of amenities & facilities for both people who work here and those that live nearby. Suggestions included a mini-supermarket and more leisure facilities.

Now for the next steps:

This feedback is really helpful. It will help shape discussions and suggestions with the project team, especially the Advisory Group which is made up of individuals from across the Park, the local community, the councils and the education sector. Our next meeting with the Advisory Group is Thursday 27th September.

Following this, we will be hosting open-house drop in sessions where you will be given the opportunity to give further feedback. Details of these events will be released very soon.

Finally, we wanted to say a last thank you for everyone's involvement so far. Please share these findings with your colleagues and peers and we will continue to update you along the way.
