Announcing the e-bike giveaway winner

Published on: 05/08/2020

You may remember that we launched a competition to celebrate National Bike Week for the chance to nominate someone you felt deserved to receive a free ebike?

We received 12 nominations and the one that has been selected is Caroline Bredariol at Aptuit, a partner research organisation for integrated outsourced drug discovery and development solutions, based at 111 Innovation Drive.

Caroline was nominated by her colleague and good friend Sachini Herath.

Sachini's nomination said: "Caroline is such a caring, kind person who always makes time to help others no matter what. Her positive energy is infectious! It is evident from the very first time you meet her that caring about our planet is one of her top priorities. Ever since she has joined the company she has made changes for the better!

"Through perseverance, she has managed to convince many of her colleagues to make the change from using plastic disposable cups to mugs. She has made signs across the building on what changes we can make to help the environment. She never misses the chance to recycle something and will always swap items to the correct bin.

"All of these actions will make an impact on the environment thanks to Caroline. She is so hard working because she does all of this on top of her own busy schedule and therefore I can think of no one else that deserves this bike better because I know how much she would love to switch from driving a car to work to riding a bike to work! I hope you will consider my friend."

Caroline added: "When I saw the email, I could not believe it! I read it three times just to make sure it was real. As a bonus, it was also a surprising birthday gift! I was so happy because I’ve always wanted an e-bike but it was a little out of my budget so I usually walk or drive to work. I can’t wait to start riding the bike to work instead!

"I am so grateful for Sachini for being a wonderful friend. Her nomination meant a lot to me and it drives me even more to bring awareness to others about waste, saving plastic and the importance and consequences of our actions. Thanks a million to Milton Park for providing me with this bike and pushing me towards looking after our beautiful environment, even in these difficult times."

Veronica Reynolds, sustainable travel advisor, Milton Park said: "We received lots of nominations and it was hard to chose the winner. We were so touched by what Sachini said of her friend and it warmed our hearts that Caroline stood out as the winner. As part of our 2040 Vision, we're all about promoting sustainable travel where ever possible. We are sure that Caroline will enjoy her new ebike for years to come."

Caroline's new ebike is from Walton Street Cycles of Oxford.

New 20mph speed limit to be introduced to help cyclists

A reminder that following your feedback we're working on introducing a new 20mph speed limit and two new pedestrian crossings for Park Drive which will assist cyclists and pedestrians and enable social distancing. We will update you on the initiatives which are due to arrive in September.
