Best Car Free Day yet!

Published on: 19/06/2018

Thank you to everyone who took part in Car Free Day for 2018.

We know we’ve only hosted two, but this year was the best yet with it being bigger and better than last year, there was a lot of buzz and social media activity.

There were cyclists, walkers, car sharers and even a paddle boarder! Others opted for the train or bus instead of the usual car journey and by and large the photos we received were happy ones!

As always, there are some announcements to be made and prizes to be given, so here goes:

Quirkiest form of transport – Stuart Bonthron from Agilent who PADDLE BOARDED here. Yes, Paddle boarded!

Woman to cycle furthest – Sue Van Huyssteen from RPS Group who cycled a 30 mile round trip.

Man to cycle furthest – Chris barnes from Adaptimmune who cycled 26 miles into the Park.

Furthest walk – Laurence from Replimmune who walked 20 miles from Reading!

Large company with most number of employees taking part – Evotec with 25%.

Small company with most number of employees taking part – Replimmune with 63%.

We also did a random prize draw of those who entered, Katherine Crossland from Adaptimmune was the lucky winner!

One final shout out is to the youngest member of the community to take part in Car Free Day, that was Dorian Marlin, who attends the nursery here. Him and his dad Fred Marlin from Evotec cycled to work/nursery for the day.

We are so pleased with everyone’s efforts and thank you very much for taking part and being involved. Ipsen based in 102 are even making this week (w/c 19.06.18) a full "Car Free Week!"

The car parks were noticeably quieter last Thursday and commutes much less stressful!
