Brush up on your project management skills

Ask any project manager about their role, and they will tell you that it’s about planning, skill and being great at juggling things. But to really understand how it works and to ensure a project is successful, there is an opportunity brush up on your skills at Milton Park by attending a half day workshop: “What do expert project managers really do?”.

Management, Learning & Coaching Limited (ML&C) together with OBN have added a new workshop, focusing on an Introduction to Project Management, which will explain how and what makes projects really work well and efficiently.

The workshop is open to everyone: OBN members and non-members.

What: What do expert project managers really do? - Half Day Workshop
When: Tuesday 17 February 2015
Time: 10:00-15:00
Where: Innovation Centre, 99 Park Drive, Milton Park
Catering: Lunch & refreshments will be provided

Overview:
Learn how projects really work and uncover easy ways to remember the stages that projects go through. Explore how your natural instincts may be setting you up to fail, the different roles and responsibilities that Stakeholders, Project Managers and Team Managers play and understand what the great project managers DO that is different and successful.

This workshop covers:

  • All projects have a goal - So what do you want from this workshop?
  • Let's find out - what are the stages you go through in bringing your projects in on time, cost and quality and compare this to our easy to remember process
  • Plan the work and work the plan - the reality
  • So "Who" does "what"?
  • How do we manage to mess it up - a very short practical exercise!
  • Managing in projects is different to managing in the line - How so?
  • What next - close it all down

The course is delivered by OBN in conjunction with Tim Woodman, Managing Director of Management Learning & Coaching Ltd, East Sussex, UK. Tim set-up ML&C in 2004 following significant project global management experience in complex contractual projects in the engineering field (e.g.; the building of Type 42 destroyers). Tim also set up and ran his own business including the full project management to launch a new publishing company and will bring and share all of his expertise in delivery of this exciting workshop.

This workshop promises to deliver:

  • A clear and concise insight into what makes projects really work and how to manage them from a guy who has built a ship amongst his many hundred successful projects
  • Actions you can take away and practice so you become better at managing projects
