Car Free Day success

Published on: 26/09/2017

Last Friday was World Car Free Day, we saw many of you trying out new ways of travelling to Milton Park, there were uni-cycles, bicycles, skateboards and the traditional buses and trains. There were also cars but being shared so all in all a great celebration of World Car Free Day – thank you so much for everyone who took part.

The company with the highest percentage of participants (in comparison to the number of people in their organisation) was Ipsen Biopharm with 15% of employees taking part. Thank you Ipsen! £500 will go to a nominated charity of your choice and you will also receive a visit from the Wandering Kitchen one lunchtime very soon. Ipsen were closely followed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals – thank you to you guys too.

Car Free Day wouldn’t have been such a success if individuals didn’t also take part, here are some special mentions and individual prize winners:

Stuart Bonthron from Cobalt for his outstanding effort (uni-cycling and skateboarding!)

Melanie Wilkinson from Vertex who car shared

Amy de Freitas from RPS who cycled 20km

Ben Gray from Alamy who cycled 56km

Kate Hitchman from OBN who ran 9.4m to get here!

Well done all and thank you very much for taking part.

The response to our first World Car Free day has been amazing, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who took part and also the companies that really encouraged their staff to take part. This included:
