Comic Relief 5k raises over £2,000

Published on: 28/03/2017

Last Friday 24th March runners and walkers joined MEPC at Milton Park, for a 5k fun run to help contribute to the nation’s efforts to raise money for Comic Relief.

With businesses coming together from all across the Park, wearing the iconic red noses, we are delighted to have collectively raised over £2,000 for the charity. Thank you to everybody who took part, we had participants from: Achilles, Adaptimmune, Allmakes, Alamy, Ansys UK, Amberside, Biesterfeld Petroplas, BSDR, Business Garage, Cobalt Light Systems, Commerce Decisions, Contego, Country Love Ceramics, Crossland Employment Solicitors, CTS, Empire forecourts, Essentia, Evotec, FIS, GMDN, Green Biologics, Halliburton, ICON, Immunocore, Ipsen, Ironman, Italian Wines, K3, M3 EU, Migrate UK, Miramar, Mission Burrito, Motors, Nord Anglia, Omprompt, Oxford Biotherapeutics, Oxford Immunotec, PsiOxus, Replimmune, ResMed, Riverbank, RM Education, RPS, SODC, Taylor & Francis, Ten Fold Engineering, Tokamak Energy, Velocys, Vertex, ZigZag and Zonal Retail Systems – well done everyone!

The route, which started on Park Drive outside the Innovation Centre, then continued round the entirety of the park before finishing at the start line. Participants all received a goody bag as a thank you for taking part and prizes were given out to the fastest man and woman.

As always, the competitive streak in you all really came out! There were strong performances both in terms of running and fancy dress! The winners were:

Fastest Man – Dominic Rorke from Halliburton

Fastest Woman (and reigning champion) – Rosalind Davies from Taylor & Francis

Best Group Fancy Dress – Halliburton with their Harry Potter characters

Best Individual Fancy Dress – Matthew Walton from Omprompt with Mr Smurf!

Philip Campbell, Commercial Director at MEPC, said: “This is a fantastic event and with the help of everyone at Milton Park, we have raised a phenomenal amount of money for Comic Relief. Thank you to everyone who took part and donated. With over 250 companies and some of our 9,000 employees taking part, it was a truly collaborative effort for a very worthy cause. As a long-standing charity, Comic Relief carries out some exceptional work not only here in the UK but also across the world, and we are thrilled to be able to support them in this way.”

The money raised by the public through Comic Relief is used to make a difference both here in the UK and across some of the most deprived communities around the rest of the world.
