Fertility company VivoPlex relocates HQ to Milton Park

Published on: 19/12/2019

VivoPlex Group, which is transforming fertility treatment with precision medicine, has relocated its HQ from Southampton to Milton Park to take laboratory and office space at 115B Innovation Drive.

VivoPlex was established in 2015 as a spin-out from the University of Southampton. For the optimisation of fertility and uterine health, its innovative wireless battery-free sensor monitors three influential parameters in the uterine environment: temperature, pH and oxygen level.

In response to its continued growth strategy, VivoPlex has taken circa 6,000 sq ft to accommodate its existing 15 R&D and corporate staff while also allowing for future recruitment as its intra-uterine biosensor moves through the next stages of clinical development and digital health activities progress.

VivoPlex’s new facilities incorporate a clean room for future in-house manufacturing of its intra-uterine device.

MEPC-96-1VivoPlex is expected to move into a clinical feasibility study in early 2020, following the submission of an approval application to the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. The clinical feasibility study is supported by the UK NIHR’s i4i Programme in a joint project with the University of Southampton, from which the company was spun out.

Joanna Smart, ceo of VivoPlex said: “Our expansion to Oxfordshire is an important milestone in VivoPlex’s development, bringing us the facilities we need to move our intra-uterine biosensor through the next phases of clinical and commercial development. Location in this medtech and digital health cluster also provides access to the talent, expertise and funding which will drive our future growth.”

Tom Booker, senior commercial surveyor of MEPC Milton Park added: “A warm welcome to VivoPlex and their team. We are delighted they have chosen Milton Park as their new HQ. They join both Milton Park and Oxfordshire’s thriving medtech and digital health community from which I’m certain they will be able to continue their impressive growth plans.”

The HQ news coincides with VivoPlex’s announcement that they have appointed Stuart Webb as finance director. Stuart has worked in financial and commercial roles at InHealth, ORLA Healthcare and Greenbrook Health and started his career at Oxford University Press following a degree in accounting and finance.
