Free weight loss support with MoreLife & The Park Club

Published on: 19/11/2014

MoreLife is coming to The Park Club at Milton Park to offer weight management and health improvement programmes to individuals, families, local communities and workplaces.

The programmes are commissioned by local authorities and the NHS, meaning that they are free for people to access. MoreLife partners with Slimming World and Weight Watchers to help people lose weight and keep it off for good.

“We offer loads of support to help many people achieve their health goals,” explained Richard Claydon, Community Development Manager at The Park Club. “We are linking up with MoreLife to deliver weight management programmes at The Park Club and the Innovation Centre in a relaxed setting.”

The weight management programmes will take place on a weekly basis covering topics such as lifestyle, nutrition and exercise.

“We would like to establish whether there is an interest from individuals and businesses to take part in the Slimming on Referral or MoreLife Specialist Weight Management Service?” said Richard. “Following the course, opportunities to increase your physical activity will be available using the gym, swimming pool or exercise classes specific for the participants of the MoreLife course.”

The two courses on offer are:

1. “Slimming on Referral - BMI 30-40”

The Slimming on Referral service is provided by Weight Watchers and Slimming World over a course of 12 weeks.

2. “Oxfordshire Weight Loss and Lifestyle Service - BMI 40+”

If you have a BMI over 40 you will be referred to MoreLife's Specialist Weight Management service. As part of this bespoke service MoreLife will start by assessing your individual needs, then a personalised plan will be created focusing on changing lifestyle behaviours which influence weight loss, health and wellbeing. MoreLife's team of specialists includes GPs, dieticians, psychologists and physical activity leaders who are all on hand to guide you on your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

If you are interested in the MoreLife course please contact Richard Claydon, the Community Development Manager at the Park Club on rclaydon@soll-leisure.co.uk
