Thames Water sewage upgrade works in Sutton Courtenay: roads impacted

Published on: 26/02/2020

Thames Water has informed us that the village of Sutton Courtenay is due to have two new sections of sewer installed this Spring and Summer to increase the capacity of the local sewage network and meet the demand from its population growth.

We understand that they are ready to start works and install the new sewer imminently.

However, there is likely to be disruption to people travelling to and from Milton Park as Phase 1 involves temporary traffic lights and Phase 2 involves full road closures.

Thames Water information

Phase 1 - from 28th February 2020 - eight weeks

Phase 1 will be at the South end of the High Street. Temporary traffic lights will be used to allow traffic to pass safely via one lane.

Where possible, Thames Water advises that local businesses should attempt to avoid scheduling deliveries and transits during morning and evening peak hours.

Phase 2 - following completion of phase 1 - 10 weeks

Following the completion of works at the South end of the High Street, Thames Water will move to the works on Drayton Road/Brook Street.

There will be full road closures in place in both directions for the works' duration due to the narrow road width and the alignment of the existing sewer.

Access to Chapel Lane and Ginge Brook will be maintained for resident access.

There will be a traffic diversion system in place during this time for all non-residential-access vehicles.

Please see Thames Water's poster below highlighting these phases.

Thames Water's work hours are weekdays: 8am to 6pm.

If needed, there is the possibility that works will take place on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. No works are planned to take place on Sundays.

If you have any queries, please call Thames Water's customer centre on 0800 316 9800, quoting your address and reference number H620.

Or email Thames Water's project manager, quoting H620 in the subject line to: catherine.sneyd@thameswater.co.uk.
