The Park Club supports ‘This Girl Can’ campaign

Published on: 20/03/2015

The Park Club at 17 Milton Park, has joined Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ Campaign to help more people become more active, more often.

The Park Club is offering female non-members (16+) the opportunity to take part in selected sports and fitness sessions during March and April 2015.

The aim of the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign is for more girls and women, regardless of their shape, size and ability, to get moving and taking part in sport and fitness sessions. Research shows that two million fewer women than men are active, but 75% want to increase their activity levels with fear of judgment being the primary barrier. The campaign aims to tackle the problem with projects taking place up and down the country to increase the amount of girls and women being active.

The Park Club will be offering use of the gym, swimming, exercise classes and sports sessions on a pay as you go basis at a subsidised rate of £3 a visit. The objective is to provide fun and positive experiences for all participants to begin an active lifestyle that they can maintain in the future. Opportunities to continue exercising at their sites will be available following the two month project.

To take advantage of The Park Club’s ‘This Girl Can’ project, participants will need to download and print a voucher from www.parkclub.co.uk, fill in your details and take to the Club to activate.

Richard Claydon, Community Development Manager for The Park Club’s owner Soll Leisure said: “We are excited to be supporting the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign and helping to get more women active in the local communities. There is a wide range of sports and fitness sessions available for participants and we are looking forward to helping more women increase their physical activity levels.”
