Wellie wanging for The High Sheriff’s Olympic Challenge

Published on: 29/07/2014

Whilst wellie wanging isn’t an official Olympic Sport, it didn’t stop twenty two businesses recently hurling a Wellington boot for charity at the in The High Sheriff of Oxfordshire’s Olympic Challenge at Iffley Road Sports Ground, Iffley Road in Oxford.

On Thursday 17 July 2014 each Challenger Company entered a mixed team of five individuals and competed in ten events ranging from the standing long jump to the 1,500 metres, to rowing and archery, and of course, the not so official wellie wanging.

The Challenge supported three charities: Music for Autism, Oxfordshire Community Foundation, and Access Sport.

Matt Dawson, the world cup winning English rugby player turned TV star, and Greg Searle, the Olympic Gold medallist rower turned inspirational speaker and is heavily involved in the business side of sports, were on hand to add their expertise and encouragement, and presented the winners with their medals.

MEPC Milton Park’s team came an honourable 13th and was made up of Andrew Barlow, Commercial Director; Chris Kimber-Nickelson, Head of Development Management; Philip Campbell, Head of Leasing & Development; Nancy Leadley, Marketing Assistant; and Jon Silversides from Carter Jonas.

Andrew Barlow, Commercial Director, at MEPC’s Milton Park said: “The Challenge was extremely well organised, supported by many volunteers and was great fun. It was a boiling hot day but that didn’t deter all the entrants’ spirits and enthusiasm. We spent a lot of the time laughing, all in good humour, and all for three great causes. Congratulations to everyone who took part, in particular SMEG as winners, and Oxford Immunotec and Vertex who flew the flag for the Park too.”

The other companies which took part included:

Bicester Village
Booker Group
Debbie & Andrew’s
Four Pillars
Grant Thornton
Lucy & Co
Meech International
Milton Park
Oxford Immunotec
Quantic Group
Sae Institute
VSL & Partners
