Milton Park buses: Our top five tips

Through our partnership with Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel, we’ve sought to make the bus services to and from Milton Park as easy-to-use as possible, from subsidising fares to increasing bus operation frequency. This has helped to increase bus use by 12% since 2019, almost doubling the number of passengers taking the bus to and from the Park.
As part of our ‘Want to know a secret?’ campaign, we’re sharing the top five things you should know if you’re new to using the bus services in and around Didcot this year.
1. £20 bus pass for the year?
We’ve recently expanded our bus pass zone! If you work at Milton Park and commute from Didcot, Drayton, Great Western Park, Ladygrove, Milton, Northbourne, Steventon or Sutton Courtenay, you’re eligible for our £20 yearly bus pass which you can use on all bus services to and from Milton Park to home.
Even if you travel to and from the Park an average of just one day a week throughout the year, you could save over £100 compared to the standard bus fare.
By offering this pass to those with the shortest journeys to and from the Park, we’re not only supporting a high proportion of people living locally (38%) but also targeting what would be some of the most polluting car journeys.

2. Not eligible for our bus pass? Enjoy capped £2 travel
To support people with cost of living pressures, Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel have capped their single adult fares to just £2. This offer lasts until 31 March 2023 so be sure to make the most of it throughout the winter months.
Journeys previously less than £2 will remain the same price meaning you won’t be charged any more than usual for your trip.
You can buy your £2 ticket from the driver, via the Traveline app or by using Freeflow tap-on tap-off.

3. Getting from the station to the Park
From Didcot Parkway train station, the following services take you to Milton Park, departing as often as every seven minutes from the R1 bus stop: X2, X32, X36, 23 and 33.

4. Travelling from further afield?
There are frequent services from Abingdon (X2 or 33), Wallingford (33), Wantage (X32 or X36) and Oxford X32 with direct connections from the John Radcliffe (JR) Hospital, Headington and Oxford Brookes University.

5. Free WiFi on board
Make the most of your mornings with free WiFi and mobile phone charging on board many of the local bus services. Get a head start on your day by checking your emails or calendar on the way in to work or simply take the time to relax by steaming your favourite music, podcast or audiobook.
