Job Description

This is a lab-based role which involves working closely with the electrochemistry team at Nexeon by focusing on electrode manufacturing processes, cell assembly and cell testing. This role will contribute to company goals by supporting the electrochemistry team in validating new generation of battery materials, through collaboration, communication and leadership, making for a more sustainable and efficient world.

As a cell test technician, you will assist the Electrochemistry Team with, including but not limited to;
• Carrying out electrode manufacturing processes such as slurry mixing, slot die coating and calendaring electrodes with strong emphasis on quality control
• Assembly of coin and pouch cells through forming, tab welding and electrolyte filling within controlled dry-room environments
• Battery cell testing through developing and executing electrochemical test programs for battery applications. Maintenance of thermal chambers and electrical connections of potentiostats
• Follow procedures and rigorously document electronic and hard copy records of experimental laboratory processes
• Conduct risks and COSHH assessments ensuring compliance with Nexeon H&S policies and procedures at all times

The ideal candidate

Essential Criteria:
• Experience of working in a chemical laboratory environment
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new situations
• Experience in following standard procedures
• Demonstration of recording experimental laboratory processes
• Experience in data handling
• Experience with Microsoft office package
• Ability to carry out experiments in a timely manner

Desirable Criteria:
• Coin and Pouch cell assembly for lithium-ion applications
• Handling powders
• Familiarity of working within dry-room environments
• Slurry casting of anode/cathode materials
