Company Spotlight: Planted Plates

Published on 30 January 2025

Back to results

Serving up sustainability with a one hundred percent plant-based menu, Planted Plates shares its mission to spice up vegan options at Milton Park with hearty meals for the soul.

Planting an idea

Planted Plates began with the simple challenge of finding fresh, delicious vegan food. After switching to a fully plant-based diet in 2019, Planted Plates’ Founder, Henna, struggled to find wholesome, flavourful and fresh vegan options. Instead of settling, Henna made it her mission to create tasty homemade dishes cooked with great quality ingredients.

Henna, Founder of Planted Plates, said: “After endlessly scrolling the internet for ‘vegan food near me’, the nearby cafés and restaurants had some underwhelming, processed vegan choices. I decided it was time to shake up the options for plant-based foods and in 2022 Planted Plates was launched.”

Starting out at the Milton Feast, Planted Plates soon built a loyal following with its flavourful curries and irresistible sweet treats. From market stalls to event catering, the next natural step was opening a café and in 2024, Planted Plates found its new home at 136 Eastern Avenue (opposite Bee House).

Henna continues: “We loved serving the friendly workforce at Milton Park and catering for people and companies that are conscious of sustainability, so it was a natural choice to stay within the Park.”

Ready to grow

Planted Plates has quickly become a popular lunchtime spot at Milton Park, with firm favourites including its warming Chickpea, Coconut and Peanut Curry, crispy spiced pakoras and its tasty cakes.

Henna adds: “Our customers love the curries because they’re proper homemade meals. We make every dish from scratch, using fresh ingredients and real spices which I think makes them such a tempting lunchtime option. And for us, a tempting dinner option as we always end up eating any leftovers!”

The business hopes to grow its customer base at Milton Park and employ like-minded people that care about serving up sustainable feel-good meals, so that Planted Plates can continue to have a positive impact on the local community and environment.

Try it at home…

For those curious about incorporating more plant-based meals into their diet, Planted Plates has some simple advice: start small. Throughout Veganuary, Planted Plates introduced a variety of cuisines, serving Mexican, Chinese, Indian and Thai dishes to encourage customers to try something new.

Henna recommends: “There are many benefits to eating plant-based, both for your body and our planet and eating a vegan diet just one day a week can make a big difference. We welcome everyone to pop by and give plant-based a taste. You’ll often find me chatting to customers who are interested in incorporating more plant-based foods into their diet, over a warm cappuccino (with oat milk!).”

Where to find it

Planted Plates is open from 9am to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and is based at 136 Eastern Avenue, in the atrium of the building occupied by Nexeon.

Don’t forget you can order Planted Plates on NOQ to avoid the lunchtime queue and pick up at a time that suits you.
