Arctoris develops functioning proteins for cardiac therapy using AI
The first ever AI-generated functional protein has been created by Arctoris and 310.ai. – a team of scientists and technologists building AI operating system for life sciences. It could eventually be used to treat cardiovascular problems, such as heart failure and strokes.
Developed using Arctoris’ Ulysses platform, this AI-generated protein interacts and responds to a vital energy source in the body that prevents the heart from stopping.
The resulting protein differs from native variants, featuring enhancements that boost stability, binding and catalysis in ways that are not possible through natural evolution. It demonstrates how AI could be used to engineer new, novel biological functions in the future.
Greywolf Therapeutics begins trial for autoimmune disease treatment
Clinical stage biotech Greywolf Therapeutics has successfully dosed the first healthy volunteer in a trial designed to treat the origin of autoimmune disease.
The study will test an oral therapy for the treatment of axial spondyloarthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease-causing persistent back pain and stiffness.
Tom Lillie, Chief Medical Officer at Greywolf Therapeutics, commented: “Whilst current therapies seek to suppress various inflammatory mediators produced by activated T cells, we’re taking a distinctly different approach with our programme and aim to target the source of disease by interrupting autoantigen presentation, preventing the damaging T-cell response from continuing.”
Living Optics showcases new AI-based hyperspectral imaging computer
Hyperspectral imaging firm based at Milton Park, Living Optics and AI-computing company AVerMedia have announced a working partnership to develop a new AI-based hyperspectral imaging solution.
The two organisations recently showcased an AI-based material analysis turnkey platform in Taipei. This device is a pairing of Living Optic’s video-rate hyperspectral camera and AVerMedia’s edge computer and can be used in a variety of real-world environments to capture and analyse images.
The demonstration highlighted how complex imaging solutions could be made easier to deploy, scale and integrate. By partnering together, customers will now be able to deliver hyperspectral imaging all with a single product, rather than jumping between different solutions.
Steve Chappell, Managing Director at Living Optics, commented: “AVerMedia’s edge computing platforms offer the reliability and industrial design our customers need, while their global distribution network helps us scale faster.”
RM Technology and Education Scotland extend Glow partnership until 2027
RM Technology is an edtech occupier based at Milton Park, which transforms teaching environments to be more productive, resilient and sustainable.
The company has extended its partnership with Education Scotland to continue delivering Glow, Scotland’s national digital learning platform, until September 2027.
Glow became a critical resource during the pandemic as schools pivoted to remote learning and in March 2025, recorded 8,347,322 sessions; the highest number in a single month post-pandemic. This sustained uptake highlights Glow’s role as a core component of Scotland’s digital learning infrastructure, supporting teaching and learning in classrooms and at home.
Mark Simmonds, COO RM Technology, said: “We’re proud to continue supporting Glow as it evolves alongside the needs of Scotland’s schools. Nearly a decade ago, we began this partnership in a very different technological landscape. Today, as the demand for remote learning and tools that extend beyond the classroom soars, our continued collaboration with Education Scotland ensures that digital learning remains accessible, relevant and effective for all.”
