Rocket fuelled coffee

Published on 27 February 2025

Back to results

This month in our amenity update, we meet Flying Saucer Coffee and take a scents check at Signal Yard. Meanwhile, ASA Landscape Architects selected trees for Signal Yard and we continue our trial of the NoQ platform where you can click and collect, see opening times and menus for Milton Park amenities.

Rocket fuelled coffee

The Flying Saucer Coffee has officially landed at Milton Park!

Operating from their bright yellow converted horse trailer, located by the Security Hut, Monday – Thursday, 7am-12 noon, they’re ready to serve up speciality coffee from Dark Horse Roastery, tea and tempting pastries.

Whether you’re after your morning caffeine fix or a mid-morning treat, The Flying Saucer is ready to fuel your day! Pop by, say hello and experience the magic for yourself.

Look out for the Flying Saucer – To celebrate their arrival, find a flying saucer on the bottom of your cup for a free coffee!

Take a peek at Signal Yard

Meanwhile across the roundabout, Curo Construction is busy transforming the former Park Centre into Signal Yard which will be a bustling social and amenity space with 18 state-of-the-art units coming soon.

You may have noticed some viewing windows have been cut out of the Signal Yard hoardings so now you can watch the progress yourself if you wander past.

Making scents of what’s coming up

Near the rainbow crossing, there is an interactive element of the Signal Yard hoardings where you can lift a series of panels and smell various scents!

Can you guess what they are?

Hint: There’s a scent associated with each of the following: food, drink and relax.

Handpicked trees

With the redevelopment of Milton Park’s amenity offer at Signal Yard making great progress, the planting of a variety of trees will soon be underway.

Ahead of this, Veronica Flemming, Director at ASA Landscape Architects joined Andrei Tenchiu from Kingston Landscapes, at J.A. Jones to select the very best specimens, ensuring every tree will be looking its best.  As part of the visit, they saw the journey the selected trees had come on over the past 10-20 years, to get to this point in their lives.

From newly planted transplants in the field, grown onto canes for support, where they are grown on and pruned into shape over several years. The transplants are grown on until they are mature field-grown stock, like these beautiful Betula pendula ‘Zwisters Glory’ (above left) which now selected, will shortly be lifted and containerised, before they make their journey to Signal Yard. (Above right) these Prunus lusitanca had already been lifted from the field and ‘rootballed’ in hessian cloth and wire, in preparation for planting.

Each tree that is tagged receives a unique code, to ensure that the correct tree gets to site. The trees will then be carefully loaded up, before making their journey to Signal Yard, where they will be planted into pre-prepared tree pits and containers, to ensure the next generation of trees have the optimum growing conditions for all our occupiers and visitors to enjoy.
