Walking meetings are great! We reveal our best walks

Published on 2 April 2022

Back to results

Walking is one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.

It’s free, gets you away from your desk, reduces sedentary time and is a very sustainable way to travel about.

If you’re looking to switch to walking meetings, get some fresh air in your lunch break, or reach your target steps per day, we have lots of handy tips to make walking a breeze at Milton Park.

We have three walking routes around the park:

– Red route – 1.5km

– Blue route – 1.8km

– Green route – 5.2kms.

For muddy boots…

At this time of year, some of the walking trails at the top of the Park, at Kelart’s Field towards Sutton Courtenay, are pretty muddy. But if you have your wellie boots to hand, you will enjoy the Blue and Green routes in full.

For work shoes…

If you would rather stick to the pavements, we recommend the Red route, or half of the Green route, taking in the west of the Park. You can also walk to Milton village.

Start a walking club…

Why not invite colleagues to join you on a regular walk, meeting at the same time, same place each week? Take a stroll around together and invite others to join.

For guided tours…

If there are any volunteers who would like to be trained-up as walk leaders through the national Walking for Health project, please email Veronica Reynolds and she will be able to provide you with further information.

Future plans – Park Drive Crossing – Vision 2040

We are working on a new cycleway that will follow the route from Backhill Tunnel to Kelart’s Field and beyond. We aim to complete the sections through the Park by April, subject to the weather. This includes a new bridge over Moors Ditch, to replace the existing narrow wooden one. More news to follow.

To get started, download our walking trail map to find your perfect walking route.

You may be interested to read a recent Forbes’ article which highlighted the benefits of walking meetings and how to ensure they’re productive. Read about why meetings on the move should be the new normal.

Lastly, please remember the basic rules for pedestrians – The Highway Code sets out some useful general guidance.

Happy walking.
