Award win for Tap Social ahead of Signal Yard ‘Day Release’ launch

Tap Social Movement has been crowned the UK’s Community-Based Social Enterprise of the Year adding to the excitement surrounding the 2026 opening of Signal Yard, Milton Park’s vibrant new community hub. This follows Tap Social earning ‘Consumer-Facing Social Enterprise of the Year’ honours at last year’s ceremony.

The award comes at the perfect moment as Tap Social prepares to launch its newest venue, Day Release, within Signal Yard in 2026. Milton Park is proud to partner with such an incredible organisation and to support its mission-driven work in the local community.

A national win for community impact

The Oxford-based independent brewery, bakery and hospitality organisation was recognised at the UK Social Enterprise Awards at London’s Southbank Centre last month. The accolade highlights Tap Social’s significant community impact and leadership within the UK’s social enterprise sector, standing out from hundreds of entrants nationwide.

Tap Social has built a national reputation for supporting people moving through the criminal justice system. To date, it has created more than 105,000 hours of fairly paid employment for prison leavers and those on ROTL (Release on Temporary Licence). This figure is set to grow further with the launch of Day Release at Signal Yard.

Day Release: A new social space at Signal Yard, Milton Park

Day Release will allow the Milton Park community to experience Tap Social’s hospitality, creativity and mission-driven approach in a dedicated onsite venue. It will be Tap Social’s fifth Oxfordshire site and the first to bring all of its brands together under one roof, making Signal Yard the perfect home for this new social enterprise hub.

What to expect

Day Release will offer a vibrant, welcoming environment featuring:

• Tap Social’s full range of “Criminally Good Beer,” including its signature alcohol-free pale ale
• Freshly baked sourdough, artisan coffee, pastries and pizzas from Proof Social Bakehouse
• An all-day food menu with crowd-pleasing classics and healthy, affordable options
• A lively programme of events including live music, workshops, quizzes, comedy and family-friendly sessions
• Hands-on Brew School experiences on a 20-litre kit, ideal for team building and private groups.

A taste of what’s to come

Before the venue opens, Milton Park occupiers can enjoy an early preview with the Proof Pizza van, which will visit Signal Yard every Tuesday lunchtime ahead of the launch. Please keep an eye on our News page for amenity opening hours over the Christmas period.

Strengthening a thriving community at Signal Yard

The award-winning Tap Social Movement will join a growing line-up of independent food, wellbeing and lifestyle businesses set to open at Signal Yard in 2026 including 1885 Burgers, Chor Muang Thai and Planted Plates. Milton Post Office and Apollo Pharmacy will also be joining the line-up adding convenient postal, banking and essential healthcare services to the vibrant amenity hub.

Alongside these upcoming openings, Damira Dental is already welcoming both NHS and private patients at its Signal Yard studio, offering state-of-the-art dental care on site.
