Signal Yard officially opens at Milton Park
More than 850 people joined Milton Park to celebrate the official opening of Signal Yard, its new £14 million social and retail destination, on Wednesday 23 September.
The community event, ‘Hello Signal Yard’, welcomed occupiers, local residents and visitors for an afternoon of complimentary food and drink, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and wellbeing experiences, showcasing the growing mix of independent businesses now based at Signal Yard.
The official opening ceremony saw Elizabeth Paris, Deputy Lieutenant for Oxfordshire and Chair of Didcot Powerhouse Fund, and Councillor Bethia Thomas, Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open Signal Yard.

Engaging offers
Guests enjoyed complimentary samples from Signal Yard businesses, including mini chicken and beef burgers from 1885 Burgers, vegan falafels and pakoras from Planted Plates and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers alongside a selection of savoury and sweet pastries from Day Release by Tap Social Movement.
Visitors also took part in a range of free activities throughout the afternoon, including face painting, mini golf, flower crown making, water bottle decorating, tote bag painting and an eco-wrap workshop.
Signal Yard’s health, wellbeing and lifestyle businesses were on hand to offer free experiences and exclusive promotions. Apollo Pharmacy provided blood pressure, blood glucose and BMI checks, Flex Health Hub offered complimentary massages, Damira Dental Studios promoted its teeth whitening offer and The Bros Barbers provided a 10% discount on haircuts.
Revealing new branded buses
As part of the celebrations, Milton Park also unveiled three new Signal Yard-branded buses that will join the Park’s fleet. Two were displayed on Park Drive during the event, while a third operated a complimentary shuttle service around the Park, helping occupiers travel to and from the festivities.
Long term placemaking strategy
Signal Yard is a key milestone in Milton Park’s 2040 Vision, which aims to create a more connected, sustainable and vibrant destination for businesses, employees and the wider community.
With nine independent businesses now open and more still to come, Signal Yard is quickly becoming the social heart of Milton Park; a place where people can meet, unwind and connect beyond the working day. Following its official launch, the destination continues to build on that vision, creating new opportunities for community, wellbeing and collaboration across the Park.
